Branford Firefighters Knock Down Wilford Avenue Blaze

Some fires you hear about, especially when people are hurt or worse. But firefighters are out every day working to save lives and property.

BRANFORD, CT — The fires that make the news are sadly the ones when there's serious injuries or worse. Otherwise, every day, firefighters are just out there doing their jobs.

Like Saturday. The wind whipping, this could have been far worse. But the house fire on Wilford Avenue, though "quickly knocked down," nonetheless took firefighters more than an hour to completely extinguish with several engines and even more firefighters, And while they're on one side of town, East Haven fire pitched in to cover the rest of town.

The house is uninhabitable and the Red Cross is helping the residents. But, on one was hurt.
