TOWN OF BRANFORD POSTING HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE POSITION OF 911 DISPATCHER TOWN OF BRANFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Date of Notice: January 23,2017

40 hours per week

Essential Functions:

Responsible for the prompt and accurate receipt of requests of a routine and emergency nature and the dispatching of the proper personnel and equipment. Answers 911 calls, including Fire, Police and Ambulance. Answers business phone lines. Monitors individuals in holding cells for proper conduct, safety, medical or other needs. Assists in training new employees.

Minimum Required Qualification:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing and computer skills.
Two years of responsible experience, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Special Requirements:

EMD Certification - Training for EMD certification will be provided by the Police Department.
No felony convictions

100% Training and Experience Assessment

The Town of Branford reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be considered for the position.

The files of all qualified candidates will be maintained for a minimum of six months from the announcement date, and the qualified candidates will be considered for the same or similar positions which may become available during this timeframe.

All candidates must successfully pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test given at the Town's expense.

The Town of Branford conducts background investigations for all positions prior to hiring. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate from further consideration.
