Branford Implements 'CodeRED' High Speed Emergency Notification System

The system will alert residents to emergencies, major storms, flooding, evacuations, missing persons/children, major road closures, & more.

BRANFORD, CT — Following a thorough evaluation and review of alerting systems, the town has implemented CodeRED, a high-speed emergency mass notification service provided by OnSolve, LLC.

The CodeRED system will serve as the backbone of the town’s emergency
planning and communications outreach to both citizens and personnel. The system sends
telephone calls, text messages, emails, and posts to social media channels to inform
residents to better protect life and property.

CodeRED was selected for its reliability and accuracy, as well as the system’s widespread adoption rates across the U.S.

“CodeRED’s robust notification system will provide town officials with a reliable, easy-
to-use interface to quickly deliver critical information to our citizens during
emergencies. We are eager to use this innovative technology to enhance our emergency
preparedness plans,” First Selectman James Cosgrove said.

The town anticipates using the system to notify residents of hazardous incidents such as flooding, major storm operations, evacuation notifications and missing persons/children notices. It will also be used to reach out to residents regarding parking bans, major road closures, large scales
events and other public notices.
