Flexible Hours
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled
Essential Functions:
School Crossing Guard: Stop traffic to allow children and pedestrians to cross busy streets and intersections.
Park Guard: Perform duties at Parker Memorial Park including but not limited to; Monitoring vehicular access at park entrance for proper Town stickers; Assist pedestrians in crosswalks; any other duties as outlined by the Chief of Police or his designee
Uniforms and training provided.
Minimum Required Qualification:
Must be able to work a flexible schedule weekly. The ability to follow oral and written instructions, the ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates and the general public and to follow safety and security guidelines and policies. Be on time and dependable. Maintain awareness of present or potential traffic hazards in the area surrounding assigned crossings.
High school graduate or GED equivalent. A combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge and experience to perform work.
Selection Guidelines:
100% Training and Experience Assessment
The Town of Branford reserves the right to limit the number of qualified candidates who will be considered for the position.
The files of all qualified candidates will be maintained for a minimum of six months from the announcement date, and the qualified candidates will be considered for the same or similar positions which may become available during this timeframe.
All candidates must successfully pass a post-offer medical examination, which includes a substance abuse test given at the Town's expense.
The Town of Branford conducts background investigations for all positions prior to hiring. Refusal to sign the release form will terminate the candidate from further consideration.
