Branford Makes Big Change To Try And Retain Its Officers: Report
A big change has been tentatively agreed upon concerning the police officers new four-year contract.

BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Police Department is returning to a pension plan for officers after making the switch in 2011 to offer a 401K retirement plan, the New Haven Register reports. The move is being made because officers have been leaving more frequently due to a lack of a pension plan.
The RTM must still vote to approve the change and the new four-year police union contract. A vote is set for May 14. Officers will also receive a 2.5 percent increase in pay for each of the four years.
Branford is currently looking to hire cops, and since word got out about the likely change back to a pension plan, 190 applicants have applied.
