Branford Man Arrested After Assaulting Wife While Driving: PD

The man also threatened to kill her if she called 911, police said. The incident happened in Trumbull.

TRUMBULL, CT — A Branford man was arrested after he assaulted his wife while she was driving in Trumbull, according to police.

Police were called to the Kohl's parking lot on Hawley Lane around 3 a.m. Jan. 14 on a report of a domestic dispute.

The victim said Robert Kelemen, 50, was intoxicated and struck her in the head while she was driving, police said. She pulled into the parking lot and called 911.

Kelemen allegedly threatened to kill her if she called 911, police said. She had facial injuries and was bleeding, but refused medical attention.

Keleman was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening, third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

He was released on a $50,000 bond.
