Branford Man Killed After Vehicle Strikes Tree: Police
BREAKING: Police say good samaritans rushed to the scene to offer assistance and police want to speak with them.

BRANFORD, CT — A Branford man was killed after being involved in a motor vehicle accident Sunday afternoon when his vehicle struck a tree, said Police Capt. Geoffrey Morgan.
Branford Police, in conjunction with the South Central Connecticut Traffic Unit (SCCTU), continue to investigate a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred yesterday around 4:15 p.m., police said.
Branford Police Officer Christopher Romanello, who is a Crash Investigator assigned to the SCCTU said that Gerald Peterson, 54, of Hopson Avenue, was driving a full sized pick-up truck and traveling southbound on South Montowese Street. In the area of 133 South Montowese Stree the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway, striking a large tree, police said.

Branford Fire Department Paramedics immediately transported Peterson to an area medical facility where he was later pronounce deceased.
Officer Romanello said, “We know that witnesses, neighbors and other motorist stopped to render aid and assist Mr. Peterson prior to emergency personnel arriving and we are looking to speak those citizens by calling 203-481-4241.”

South Montowese Street was closed in the area for about four hours as SCCTU officers conducted their investigation.
