Branford Motorist Points Gun at Off-Duty New Haven Police Officer in Branford: Police
Branford police say they have made an arrest in the case.
Branford, CT - A motorist pointed a gun at an off-duty New Haven police officer while driving in Branford Thursday in an apparent road rage incident, police said.
Police said at 9 p.m. Thursday officers arrested Anthony Vigliotti, 29, of 13 Burban Drive, after police received a 911 call from an off-duty New Haven Police Officer who reported that Vigliotti had pointed a handgun at him at the intersection of East Main Street and Windmill Hill Road.
The off-duty officer told Branford officers that Vigliotti had been tailgating and blowing his horn at him from the intersection of North Main Street and Chestnut Street because he thought Vigliotti wanted to travel at a faster speed, police said in a news release.

Once at the Windmill Hill intersection, Vigliotti pulled alongside the officer, and he allegedly pointed a small black semi-automatic handgun at him and then drove off, police said.
Police later located Vigliotti at his residence, in possession of a .45 caliber handgun and he was taken into custody., police said.

Police determined that Vigliotti had a valid pistol permit, however police seized both the handgun and the pistol permit, police said.
Vigliotti was charged with following to close with intent to harass, second-degree threatening, first-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree breach of peace. He was released on a promise to appear.
