BRANFORD, CT – The Board of Police Commissioners has approved a proposed budget for next year that includes in it a new position of deputy police chief.
The position is an important one, in the eyes of Police Chief Kevin Halloran.

“We are going through a transition period with people retiring,” the chief told the police commissioners, at its most recent meeting.
“Getting a deputy chief’s rank will allow us to develop and continue a succession plan for the next leaders of the department,” Halloran said.

“The nice part is we do know when people will be leaving,” the chief said. “It is imperative that we get that position (deputy police chief) in there.”
Halloran also reported to the commission that he had been informed that the state will be reimbursing the town the entire cost - $62,500 – of body cameras that are worn by Branford police officers.
The reimbursement comes in the form of a state grant.
