Suspect Identified in 2 Smash and Grab Burglaries in Branford: Correction

Branford police say two businesses were broken into overnight Friday.

Editor's Note: This story has been updated and corrected. Branford police have identified Michael Menta, 44, as a suspect in the two commercial smash and grab burglaries committed late last week.

He's only been identified as the suspect. He hasn't been arrested as of yet, police told Patch. We regret the error.

Branford, CT - Police announced a suspect has been identified in two commercial "smash and grab" burglaries overnight Friday.

Branford Police spokesman Capt. Geoff Morgan ‏@Cpt_G_Morgan on Twitter said police have identified 44 year old, Michael Menta as the person responsible for the smash and grab burglaries Saturday morning.

The businesses were broken into by a white male, mid to late 40s, curly black hair with a distinct bald spot, police said in their initial news release Saturday.

At the time, police said the suspect used a green commercial flatbed truck, which has been reported stolen out of East Haven, police said.

The truck belongs to East Haven Building Supplies, and is believed to be a 2008 Kenwood 300 FB, Bearing CT REG K66596.
