Branford Police Caution Community About Worrisome But Bogus FB Post
FB photo post alleges a man in Branford is robbing, attacking people who refuse him money is fake and found across US, Canadian FB pages.

BRANFORD, CT — A cursory search on Facebook finds that "this man," allegedly robbing and attacking people who refuse him money in Branford, has been seen doing the same in towns and cities from Colorado to Canada.
The post, found by Patch in scores of Facebook community and marketplace pages and accounts across the U.S. and Canada, claims that the man pictured (Patch won't share the image of the individual) is dangerous and armed.
A photo of a man claims he's been going door-to-door in communities. It reads that he claims to have been evicted and when people don't give him money, he attacks with a knife and robs them. And the post reads he's wanted by cops and 911 should be called if he's seen.

Not uncommon, this post and ones like it are bogus, but shared widely and in some cases, may cause fear and concern in communities.
The Branford Police Department created a Facebook post this weekend, cautioning folks that it's fake and there's no threat.

"BPD has been informed this post is going around on social media platforms. It depicts a male in a grey and red sweatshirt with a fake narrative. Be advised we are NOT aware of any incidents involving a robbery with a knife and we are NOT looking for the pictured male. This ... information is false."
