Branford Police Detective Retires After 14 Years With The Department

In total, Moynihan worked in law enforcement for 34 years, 20 in Waterbury and 14 years spent serving the citizens of Branford.

BRANFORD, CT — After 14 years with the Branford Police Department, Detective Patrick Moynihan retired Thursday.

After serving 20 years, Moynihan retired from the Waterbury Police Department and then began his career at the Branford Police Department.

During his time here, police wrote on Facebook, he worked a number of "high profile cases" and, "made sure he was always able to help out in any way he could, even if it was just backing up a patrol officer on an alarm."

Moynihan also volunteered to help new officers on cases, provide guidance, and "share the wisdom he’d gained in 34 years in law enforcement."

“Today, 9/22/22, marks my final day as a law enforcement officer after 34 years," Moynihan was quoted as saying. "It’s been an honor and a pleasure to protective and serve the Town of Branford for the last 14 of those years.”
