Missing Branford Woman Found Dead, Likely Struck by a Train: UPDATE
Branford police say the local resident went for a hike on Monday and had been missing until she was found late Tuesday.
UPDATE: Members of the Branford Police Department, Connecticut State Police and Amtrak Police located Sarah Addy, 31, of Thimble Island Road, deceased at approximately 7:15 pm. along the eastbound railroad tracks, just east of Thimble Island Road, police said.
Police investigators believe that Addy was struck by an eastbound train sometime during the nighttime hours last evening, police officials said in a late-evening statement. Detectives will continue to investigate the facts and circumstances surrounding Addy’s death, police said in a news release.
She had been reported missing earlier on Tuesday as police officials said she went out for a hike but never returned home.

Branford, CT - The Branford Police Department is actively investigating a missing person case with the assistance of both the Connecticut State Police and Amtrak Police.

The Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in trying to find Sarah Addy, 31, who reportedly left her home on Thimble Island Road in Branford to go for a hike in the woods yesterday afternoon, Monday, June 13, and not has been seen since, police said in a news release.
Attempts to contact her by cell phone have been unsuccessful, and police say they believe that she is still on foot in this area. The Branford Police along with the Connecticut State Police and Amtrak Police continue to search for Sarah.
Sarah is a white female, approximately 5 foot 3 inches tall and 105 pounds. She has light brown hair, slightly past her shoulders, and green eyes.
She was last seen wearing a denim skirt and a shirt with some type of print on it (unknown color). Police believe that she is carrying some type of black backpack.
