“Some Tips (On this Tuesday):

“1. Make sure you collect your mail on a DAILY basis. Don't leave your mail overnight.

“2. If you are expecting packages, select secure delivery options such as requiring signature, or picking up at your local postal office.

“3. Shred mail that you don't need- Don't just throw it in the trash and leave it for the weekly trash pickup. Some of these "junk" mail letters can include pre-approved credit card applications, personal identifying information (SS #'s, etc.) and can lead to further issues such as identity theft, fraud, etc.

“4. DON'T SEND CASH or GIFT CARDS. Also, if you are sending a check in the mail, it is best to have security-type envelopes, or to have additional paper around the check to ensure your routing and account numbers are not visible through the envelope.

“5. Take additional security measures such as home surveillance systems, lighting in the area of your mailbox, and/or a mailbox with a secure (locked) mail slot .

“6. If you recently changed your address, make a list for yourself of all accounts, bills, and updates you need to make so this mail doesn't go to your old address and is ...floating around.
In addition to contacting police, you can report to the U.S. Postal Service by Phone.

“We are reminding everyone to report suspicious activity in your neighborhoods. With your continued help, we intend on identifying those involved and taking enforcement action accordingly. As always, thanks again for reporting suspicious activity and being additional eyes keeping our community safe.”
