Branford Police Welcome New Officer To Its Ranks

Before taking the oath in Branford, Andre Coutu was a probation and parole officer, then joined the Orange Police Department in 2019.

BRANFORD, CT —Lots of new faces at the Branford Police Department lately, from an administrative assistant to a dispatcher, and now, a newly minted Branford police officer.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, police welcomed officer Andre Coutu.

Previously an Orange Police Department patrol officer, he graduated from the Meriden Police Academy in 2019. While working for Orange police, he handled myriad calls and was a EMR First-Responder.

Coutu graduated from Castleton State College in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in psychology. After graduating, he began a career with the Vermont Department of Corrections, where he became a probation and parole officer, according to Branford police.

"Officer Coutu enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young boys, being outside, traveling to Disney World and playing with the family's German Shepherd, Opie," the Facebook post reads.
