Lia Coppola, BHS student, earns distinction!

The Rotary Club of Branford proudly announces its selection of Lia Coppola, daughter of Kathryn and Ralph Coppola, as the January, 2019, Student of the Month. Lia Coppola, a junior at Branford High School, was nominated by her teacher, Erica O’Brien, for excellence in family and consumer science. Coppola is a member of the National Honor Society and is the recipient of the Horizons award for academic excellence. She is a member of the school’s chemistry club and a volunteer in many school and community events. Her career goal is to become a teacher.

The Branford Rotary Club is in its 91st year of existence, having been chartered on October 15, 1928. The Rotary Club is an organization of women and men representing a cross section of local business and professional leaders, living and/or employed in Branford who work on a variety of local and international projects to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities. It has been recognizing outstanding scholars and their teachers on the secondary level for decades.

The Branford Rotary Club meets weekly on Wednesday from 7:15 to 8:30 am at the Parthenon Diner, 374 East Main Street in Branford. Guests of members are welcome to attend and membership inquiries are encouraged.
