Branford’s Mike Olt Battles to Make Boston Red Sox Opening Day Roster

BRANFORD, CT – There are only a few days left to the opening day of baseball season but one player who still does not know yet where he’ll be playing is Branford’s Mike Olt.
Olt signed a few weeks back to play this coming season with the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox have made most of their roster moves, but have yet to make a decision on whether to keep Olt on the big league team on which minor league team to send him down to.

Olt, 28, who grew up in Branford, was a star at the University of Connecticut, and went to be a number one draft choice of the Texas Rangers, is a third baseman. He most recently played with the San Diego Padres organization.
He’s also played with Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox.
He has hit 16 home runs in his major league career.
