BRANFORD, CT — The town is looking to hire an "experienced, detail-oriented town clerk," following the departure of longtime clerk Lisa Arpin last month. She'd told the Board of Selectmen that she would "conclude" her service at the end of her term, Jan. 5.
In its notice that it's hiring, the town describes the Town Clerk role as a "key leadership" position. The clerk serves as the "keeper of vital records, supports elections, and plays an essential part in keeping our local government running smoothly."
The salary, described as"competitive," ranges from $81,000 to $90,000, "based on experience."

Noting that the Town Clerk's job is "meaningful public service work," candidates with "municipal clerk experience, strong customer service skills, and a passion for public service" are encouraged to apply.
The job description notes that the Town Clerk is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering the statutory and charter-mandated duties of the Office of the Town Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics. The position requires a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, organization, and the exercise of independent judgment in accordance with Connecticut General Statutes, the Town Charter, and applicable regulations. The Town Clerk serves as a key public-facing official and custodian of the Town’s permanent records.
