Branford Soccer Player Tests Positive For Coronavirus: Report
The schools superintendent announced a positive coronavirus case at Branford High School last week.

BRANFORD, CT — When schools superintendent Hamlet Hernandez announced a positive COVID-19 case at Branford High School last week, he did not mention it was an athlete and that a team went into quarantine.
Branford co-athletic director Jake Palluzzi told Gametime CT the athlete is a member of the boys soccer team and team is in quarantine until Oct. 5.

"This morning, Branford High School was notified that a member of our school community has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). The affected person was last in school on Tuesday, September 22nd, and has been instructed to remain on home isolation for 10 days. Anyone who is considered a 'close contact' with this person will or may already have been contacted by school officials and/or public health officials and provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take."

Hernandez wrote that after speaking with East Shore District Health, the schools have decided "that there is no reason to close school or cancel in-person classes due to the sufficiency of the District’s current cleaning protocols and mitigation measures."
He did not mention the team quarantine.
Hernandez said the school district is "closely monitoring this situation and will provide additional information should it be required."
