BRANFORD, CT — Hard to type the words, even harder to announce that "once again" the annual Branford Sports Hall of Fame dinner is being cancelled, chairman Bill O'Brien said. The 2020 dinner was also canceled due to the coronavirus.

The dinner, always held the Friday before Thanksgiving, has been a staple Branford event for 32 consecutive years beginning in 1988.

"We are very disappointed that we have to cancel our dinner once again," O'Brien said. "We were hoping that 2020 would be the only year we would have to cancel but decided to err on the side of caution again this year."

O'Brien explained that over the years, on average around 350 people have attended and the "committee felt attendance would be significantly reduced because of the ongoing anxiety many people have."
