Branford Student At CCSU Gets Coveted President’s Citation Award

Just eight students received the 2020 CCSU President's Citation Award. And theatre major Alexander Corey is one on them. Take a bow!

NEW BRITAIN, CT —Eight Central Connecticut State University students were selected to receive the 2020 President’s Citation Award. And Alexander Corey of Branford is one of them.

Students must have excellent academic credentials to be considered for the President’s Citation Award. Most honorees are frequently named to the Dean’s and President’s lists, and they have earned multiple scholarships over their academic careers. While maintaining rigorous academic schedules, these students also find time to present research at conferences, compete in academic contests, and complete prestigious internships.

“I am very proud of these students, who exemplify the true mark of a CCSU graduate: They are fully invested in their education and motivate others to do the same by example,” CCSU President Zulma R. Toro said.

Corey is a Theatre major and Honors Program student. He has served as president of the CCSU United States Institute for Theatre Technology since 2018 and previously served as the group’s treasurer. Alexander’s interest in theater is wide-ranging and includes leadership roles in the Center Stage Musical Theatre Club, and, since 2017, the Theatre Department for which he served as company general manager, company assistant, and a production stage manager for the CCSU Black Box Theatre. He is a go-to source for support as technical services operations manager for the Student Center.
