Branford Woman Charged In Drug Transaction: Naugatuck PD

An officer "witnessed a hand-to-hand transaction during the sale of an illegal drug...," police said.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Two people, Stafford Jonas, 27, of Vail Street in Waterbury and Sharon M. Velardi, 49, of Montoya Drive in Branford, are accused of being involved in a drug transaction in Naugatuck, police said.

At 4:58 p.m. on Oct. 26, police initiated a motor vehicle investigation in the area of 800 New Haven Road where Jonas was a passenger in the vehicle, police said. The officer witnessed a hand-to-hand transaction during the sale of an illegal drug, and the accused was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Jonas is charged with sale of a certain illegal drug, conspiracy to commit/sale of a certain illegal drug and possession of a controlled substance. Jonas was released on a $25,000 bond.

Velardi was the driver of the car, and is charged with conspiracy to commit/sale of a certain illegal drug and possession of a controlled substance. Velardi was released on a $5,000 bond.
