Branford Woman Killed In Vermont Highway Collision
Jane Fortune, 63, of Branford was tragically killed Sunday morning on a slippery, snow-covered highway in Randolph, Vermont.
RANDOLPH, VT — Vermont State Police confirmed for Patch that Jane Fortune, 63, of Branford, was killed Sunday morning on a snow-covered highway.
Police said the accident occurred at 11:45 a.m. Sunday while she was traveling on Interstate 89 near Randolph, Vermont and that her car slid, crossed over the icy roadway across the median into oncoming traffic and collided with a flat-bed truck.
In a release from Vermont State Police public information officer Adam Silverman, it's noted that Fortune was traveling on the southbound side of the interstate when Fortune "lost control on the slick snow covered roads" and her 2005 Toyota Corolla slid into northbound traffic and collided with the truck.

The driver of that vehicle, a 70-year-old New Hampshire man, was not hurt. Fortune, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
Her sister Nancy Leta wrote, "The Lord has received one of the most valued persons in the world. There are no words for the huge hole this has left in our family."
