Burglar Caught Trying To Steal Tires From Car Dealership In Branford, Crashes Into Cruiser While Fleeing: Report

The local car dealership has had numerous tires and rims stolen from its vehicles over the past year. An arrest is imminent.

BRANFORD, CT — Cameras were rolling when someone stole tires from Al Mac Motors II in Branford this week and an employee across the street called police.

When police arrive the suspect ignores the officer's instructions, and the suspect takes off while crashing into another police cruiser, NBC Connecticut reports. Police briefly follow the vehicle but stop because of the high rate of speed by the suspect, NBC Connecticut reports.

Branford police say they are still investigating and East Haven police stopped the suspect's vehicle on Thursday night, according to NBC. An arrest is imminent, police said.

Al Mac Motors has been targeted repeatedly by this type of crime and has lost tires and rims totaling up to $10,000 over the past year.
