First Baptist Church of Branford to Open New Food Pantry on September 12 to Serve the Local Community

[Branford, CT] — First Baptist Church (FBC) of Branford will open its new community food pantry on September 12, offering free non-perishable and shelf stable foods to individuals and families facing food insecurity in the local area.

The food pantry, called The Open Table Pantry is part of the church’s ongoing commitment to serve neighbors with compassion, dignity, and support. Community members will be able to receive shelf-stable foods twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

The food pantry’s Grand Opening is on Saturday, September 12, from 11 AM to 2 PM at First Baptist Church of Branford, 975 Main Street, Branford. All are welcome to attend. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, community picnic serving hot dogs, live music and kid’s activities.

“We believe no one in our community should have to face hunger alone,” said Rev. Dr. AJ Smith, Senior Minister at First Baptist Church of Branford. “This food pantry is one way we can share hope, meet immediate needs, and walk alongside our neighbors.”

Members of the community are invited to support the pantry by donating nonperishable food items during the Grand Opening event and anytime throughout the year. We look to our community to help spread the word to individuals and families who may benefit from our food pantry.

Suggested donations include canned vegetables, soups, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, beans, and other shelf-stable items. No glass.
