Cause of Death Released for Branford Man Reported Missing on July 4: UPDATE

BREAKING: The man's body was found inside a car in Meriden a few days after he was reported missing.

MERIDEN, CT — The Medical Examiner's Officer has concluded that Jason Czech, 39, of Branford, who was reported missing on July 4, died as a result of an accidental overdose of cocaine and fentanyl, according to the Meriden Record Journal.

Czech's body was found in Meriden inside a car on July 8. Czech was supposed to be going to see a Phish concert in upstate New York but he never made it there. A Silver Alert was issued and his disappearance generated significant publicity last summer.

During this time period, 17 people overdosed on cocaine laced with fentanyl in New Haven, and three people ended up dying, the Record Journal reports.
