Cause Of Major Fire At Branford Building Supply Released
The fire began at the Main Street business early Saturday.

BRANFORD, CT — Fire Marshal Rob Dobuzinsky has determined that the cause of Saturday morning’s fire at Branford Building Supply to be "accidental- Improper disposal of rags used to clean up a spilled wood finishing product," fire officials posted on social media.
Fire officials said that the spill occurred Friday afternoon. Physical and video evidence along with employee interviews led to this determination, officials said.
"Branford Fire Department would like to thank the Giordano family for thinking of our firefighters by providing hot coffee even as they faced such a large loss," officials said. "We would also like to thank our Branford Dispatchers, Branford Police Department, Guilford Fire Department, East Haven Fire Department and North Branford Fire Department for your assistance."
