Coffee With a Cop Will Bring Together Police and Residents in Branford
The program is intended to help residents build relationships with the police force.

The Branford Police Department will soon be hosting a program to help residents bond with police officers, the New Haven Register reports.
The “Coffee with a Cop” program will give residents the chance to meet and talk with police officers and ask them questions.
According to the Register, the program began in mid-October and will be held monthly at different local businesses.

Police Chief Kevin Halloran told the Register the program would give residents the opportunity to talk to police officers in a non-threatening environment.
Branford Police were inspired by the “Coffee with a Cop” program that has been implemented in 36 states across the United States, in collaboration with the Department of Justice. According to the DOJ, the program is enhancing community trust and increasing police legitimacy.

Halloran told the Register, the program would make officers available to discuss any topics that residents raise and hopes that people will see that they are not just cops but real people.
