Branford Field Hockey Head Coach Cathy McGuirk won her 500th game as head coach on Tuesday night as Branford won 3-0.
She told News 8 that she didn’t think she would get so emotional after the victory but she did. Former Walter Camp President and Branford legend, Bill O’Brien was present for the milestone victory and wrote the following on Facebook.
“I was proud to be at my friend Cathy McGuirk’s 500th field hockey win today at Sacred Hear Academy... Our Hall of Fame coach has won 10 state championships and has the most wins in her sport of any coach in state history. Kudos also to her assistant coach and loving husband John... Way to go coach.”
