BRANFORD, CT — The town is hoping that residents get behind the campaign to thank front line health care workers and first responders by cheering for them at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.

Trista Milici, longtime executive assistant to Branford's First Selectman, shared that resident Melodie Lane O’Connor began the thank you campaign.

"As many of you may have seen on the news or Facebook other communities are finding ways to show appreciation for first responders. In New York City at 7 p.m., when shifts end, neighbors are opening their windows, cheering, banging pots and pans as a way to thank all first responders, nurses, doctors and all others that are out there helping us get through this," she wrote.

"Starting tonight, Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 and then again on Saturday, April 18 she is asking the community to come together and cheer on all the First Responders. It only takes a few minutes and it really builds a sense of community in our neighborhoods," Milici wrote. Adding, "remember ...social distancing: six feet apart."
