UPDATE: Curbside Trash Container Rules Enforcement Starts Feb.
Branford officials say that as a courtesy, trash haulers had been picking up garbage left curbside in oversize and overweight containers.
BRANFORD, CT — So far, they have been accommodating and courteous about it. But starting in February, things are going to change.
The town has issued a notice saying that an "increasing number of residents are using oversized/overweight containers for their curbside trash collection" and that cannot continue.
"The hauler has been picking up these containers as a courtesy. However, beginning in February, the oversized/overweight container policy will be enforced and materials will not be collected.

The town says collection crews will begin leaving notices at those homes with oversized and/or overweight containers with these curbside trash collection container guidelines:
Curbside trash containers must weigh less than 50 pounds, be smaller than 45 gallons in size, have handles and not be smaller on the top than on the bottom.
