Dist. 12 Senator Cohen Named Chair Of Senate Transportation Committee
Previously head of the Environment Committee, she said the"intersection between the environment and transportation" is a passion of hers.

BRANFORD, CT — State Sen. Christine Cohen, D-District 12, has been named Senate Chair of the Transportation Committee. She was previously chair of the state Senate Environment Committee.
"I am honored by the decision and ready to take on this new challenge," Cohen said. "Ensuring there is connectivity across the state, people getting to where they need to go in an affordable, safe and efficient manner, will be a policy priority."
Cohen said that serving as the head of the committee on the environment was the "experience of a lifetime," she pointed to the "intersection between the environment and transportation" as a passion of hers.

"Whether it is through safe streets initiatives, making electric vehicles, buses, trucks and bicycles more readily available and economical, improving rail service or strategic highway developments," she said she looks forward to working with House co-Chair, State Representative Roland Lemar. She'll also be working with Transportation Committee members, legislative colleagues, the state Department of Transportation and Department of Motor Vehicles, "as well as residents across the district and our beautiful state to understand the pressing needs and address them," she said.
Speaking of the Environment Committee, she said its efforts "furthered progress towards cleaner air and water, resiliency, animal welfare, land conservancy, sustainable farming practices and so, so much more."

"Environmental matters are of keen interest to me and I will continue to pursue them for the betterment of our district and our state," Cohen said.
About the Transportation Committee, Cohen noted that her committee assignments will be decided soon, and she'll share that information when it becomes available.
"In the meantime, I am looking forward to preparing for this new adventure and celebrating the holidays with my family before the Legislative Session begins January 4," Cohen said.
