ESCA Celebrates Veterans on Veterans Day with a Prayer Service

ESCA's community Veterans Day Prayer Service honors Veterans with the help of Fourth Degree KOC members, ESCA alumni, faculty and students.

East Shoreline Catholic Academy (ESCA) invited ESCA school family Veterans for a Veterans Day Prayer Service, and to thank them for their service. The service began with a welcome and a prayer. The school was honored to have The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of the Fr. Donlin Assembly of St. Mary Church in New Haven march in procession to lead in the Pledge of Allegiance and the “Star Spangled Banner”. Middle school students took turns telling the history of Veteran’s Day and recited “In Flanders Fields” poem by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae. Fourth grade students announced the different branches of the military service in which Veterans stood up for each branch of their service and applause were given. The fourth grade continued on to demonstrate as they explained the meaning of what each fold in our Flag represents. The Service concluded with ESCA's Junior Ancient Fife & Drum Corps playing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and all sang “God Bless America”. The Knights of Columbus handed out Flag Manuals and had a basket of army men for all the students who wanted. All met in the Heritage Rm. for coffee and. Hand made cards made by ESCA students, to be sent to service men currently on active duty were viewed.

A big thank you and shout out to all of our Veterans, and to The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus of the Fr. Donlin Assembly of St. Mary Church in New Haven, to ESCA alumni who participated in the Fife & Drum Corps performance, to Petonito’s Pastry and Cupcake Shoppe for donating the Veteran’s Day cake, and to ESCA faculty, staff, students, and parents for making the Veteran’s Day Prayer Service truly special!
