This fiddle spectacular features Wendy Sharp (classical), Stacy Phillips (Klezmer), Bill Reveley (bluegrass), Damien Connolly (Irish) and Branford Youth Strings. This violin extravaganza presents four soloists who are masters of their instrument in various genres, and the program will open with selections by students from Branford Intermediate and High School, led by music teacher Christine Cohen.
The Musical Art Society of Branford presents this concert as part of its fund-raising for a music scholarship for a graduating high school senior planning to study music in college. This scholarship is presented annually in the name of Alice Collins, the first president of Musical Art Society in 1920.

Wendy Sharp is an award-winning classical violinist who performs frequently as a recitalist and a chamber musician and has toured the US, Canada, Europe and Japan. She is on the faculties of the Yale School of Music where she is Lecturer in Violin and Director of Chamber Music, and California Summer Music, and also maintains a private studio.
Stacy Phillips is an internationally known musician specializing in Klezmer, bluegrass and old-time styles of violin and Dobro, teacher, author of 30 books and DVDs and Grammy award winner. He edits the on-line magazine “Fiddle Sessions” and has taught fiddle workshops all over the US and in Europe, Canada and Australia.
Damien Connolly is an Irish fiddler and accordion master who gives private lessons on both instruments and has led music workshops at a number of Irish music festivals. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and other prestigious venues, and is currently in the process of recording his second CD.
Bill Reveley is a bluegrass fiddler, mandolinist and vocalist who leads the band Grass Routes, which has recorded three albums and performed locally and throughout the northeast for over 25 years.
Christine Cohen is a musician and strings teacher at the Branford Intermediate and High Schools, and leads the Branford Youth Strings to open our Fiddle 101 concert.
The Musical Art Society cultural arts group is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 whose mission is to support and promote excellence in music in the community. It presents several free concerts each year which are open to the public, and runs an annual music scholarship fundraiser. New members, sponsors and donations for our scholarship are always welcome.
