Guilford Rotary Frosty 5k

The Guilford Rotary Club’s Annual Frosty 5K New Year’s Day road race and 2K health walk begins at 11 a.m. (rain, sleet or snow) on Sunday, Jan. 1.

The Certified USATF 5K course is flat and scenic and follows town streets from the start/finish line on South Union Street to the harbor and back.

Sound Runner is race headquarters. Participants can register at the store’s Branford, Madison or Old Saybrook locations, or online with a credit card at www.bit.ly/Frosty5k.

Pre-registered entrants receive long-sleeve running shirts and sloves and can pick up their race packets on Friday or Saturday, Dec. 30, 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 pm. at (1088 Main Street, 203-483-8222).

Race day registration and packet pickup is Jan. 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 309 South Union Street in Guilford. A hearty brunch is served at the K of C Hall after the race, where awards are made and results posted.Runners also can check results on line at www.plattsys.com.

Proceeds from the Frosty 5K go to the Rotary Club’s Memorial Educational Fund to help people seeking job training or advanced education through scholarships and no-interest loans.
