Hike at Lake Saltonstall

Hike at Lake Saltonstall      

    The Regional Water Authority and Branford Historical Society will sponsor a hike at Lake Saltonstall Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. rain or shine. The public is invited to attend and should park in the fish shack parking lot on Hosley Avenue. Take hosley Road over I95, go about two miles to 1st I-beam gate on left, follow gravel road to parking lot and fish shack.  The hike will last about two hours and the terrain is easy to hike. John Triana, the Natural Resources Technician for the Water Company, will lead the hike and explain the geology and environment of Lake Saltonstall including its transition from a resort to a regional reservoir. Jane Bouley of the Branford Historical Society will tell about the human history of the lake including pre-colonial, English settlement, and the summer resort era.
