This is the first branch to be located in New Haven County.

Farmington Bank, which has been in business since 1851 and has 24 branches in northern and central Connecticut, has opened a lending center at 28 School Street in Branford, the New Haven Register reports.

The lending center will handle both commercial and residential loans. Branford resident, Edward Vescovi, will serve as assistant vice president and residential sales manager, along with two other loan specialists.

The Branford location is the first in New Haven County for Farmington Bank. The company has also hired former Boston Red Sox Tim Wakefield, of the famed knuckleball, to be a celebrity pitchman for the bank.
