4 Men Arrested In Branford Home Invasion: Police

A Branford man, two East Haven men and a Meriden man have been charged in connection with a violent Hamre Lane home invasion.

BRANFORD, CT — Police arrested four people after a Branford home invasion Wednesday at The Commons condominiums on Hamre Lane.

Branford police said two masked men broke into a woman's home around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday and assaulted her adult son with a baseball bat, shoved her, then fled to a vehicle. Police said the home invasion was not a random act. The son was was injured and transported to Yale New Haven hospital for treatment.

"A quick response by alert officers resulted in the arrest of these individuals fleeing the residence," police said.

Branford police officers arrested David Maher, 23, of East Haven, and Angel Dejesus, 20, of Branford.

Police said officers subsequently arrested Dominic Norton, 19, of East Haven, and Matthew Barstow, 24, of Meriden. Norton and Barstow "knowingly involved in the plan to assault the victim," police said.

Police charged Maher with home invasion, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening, breach of peace, and having weapons in a motor vehicle. Dejesus was charged with home invasion, second-degree assault, breach of peace, and having weapons in a motor vehicle.

Norton and Barstow were charged with conspiracy to commit home invasion, breach of peace, and having weapons in a motor vehicle.

"Branford Police want to assure the public that all individuals associated with this incident were arrested," police said. "Maher was known to the victims in this case."

Police added, "Despite the uncertainties faced by first responders during this COVID-19 crisis members of the Branford Police and Fire Departments will continue to quickly respond to these emergencies."
