GoFundMe Soars To Nearly $33K For Family Of Ben Callahan, 10

People continue to try and do whatever they can to assist Ben's family.

BRANFORD, CT – The GoFundMe fundraising total has now topped is now near $33,000 for the family of a 10-year-old Branford boy who drowned in the Branford River on Friday. The GoFundMe campaign where the money has been raised has seen 531 people contribute a total of $32,780 as of late Thursday morning.

The campaign’s original stated fundraising goal was $5,000. A candlelight vigil on the Branford Green, attended by more than 1,000 people, was held Sunday night for Ben Callahan, 10, who died after falling into river and being swept away by the current while playing with his two brothers.

He was found dead inside a pipe by rescue workers after a three hour search. Mourners have made also made visits to where he was found a memorial, placing flowers, and sports memorabilia near the river.
