Good News On $90M Walsh Intermediate School Project

Local officials have been worried whether the state's budget woes would impact how much state aid they'd receive on the project. BREAKING

BRANFORD, CT – Town officials and taxpayers can breathe a little easier as the state Bond Commission Wednesday unanimously approved funding its portion of school building projects across the state – including the $90 million Frances Walsh Intermediate School remodeling project.

Officials, as late as this week’s Board of Finance meeting, were expressing concern that the state’s ongoing budget crisis might cause officials to pull the plug on funding the project.

But the Bonding Commission Wednesday morning approved the school spending, without discussion.

The state’s position of the of the huge project is nearly $35 million.
