This is Press Release from the Puppet House Foundation On Tour
Earlier today, an article was published [in the New Haven Register] on the future of the Puppet House and the Puppet House Foundation. I would like to the this opportunity to clarify some important details.
To reiterate, the original mission of the Puppet House Foundation has not changed. We formed our board and organization around the mission of making unique artistic opportunities available here on the shoreline. The Stony Creek Puppet House theater was the vehicle in which we chose to make these opportunities accessible. This unfortunate decision to terminate our lease with the venue simply became out of our control. Due to a number of issues with the estate, building, and inflated costs to bring the venue up to code, the project within the walls of the Puppet House theater became prohibitive.

Our donors have been an integral part of our decision making. At no point have we masked our project or direction of the organization to our donors. We have been in contact with all of our donors throughout this important time and have their support. Any donor who is no longer interested in the mission of the organization has the opportunity to take back their contribution. We are endlessly appreciative of the support we have received from the community from day one.
We are excited about the future of our project and the direction we are taking through Puppet House on Tour (PHOT). We have already been able to host a sold out summer of our program at the Soundview Family YMCA, where we brought in artistic professionals from across the state to teach shoreline students how to create, write, and perform their very own musicals. In addition, we are proud to support the this year by adding a full scale community sing along on the Branford Green led by the Branford High School Choir. We encourage everybody to join us online at www.puppethouseontour.org to learn more about our platform and exciting upcoming events and initiatives.

As we remain dedicated to the enhancement of the cultural landscape here on the Shoreline and proud of the work we were able to accomplish, we wish who ever takes on the property all the luck in
the world. The best projects know when to change direction, and we know we have made the best decision to fulfill our mission and be fiscally responsible. At the end of the day, the Puppet House provided enthusiasm within the community as it represented renewed arts in our community. We are proud to stand by our original mission and promise to bring incredible arts programming to the Connecticut shoreline.
