CT Solar Challenge is a community-driven, group purchasing program that significantly reduces the cost of installing solar systems.
The program is now open to Branford and Guilford.
The Connecticut Solar Challenge™ (CTSC) is a non-profit community driven group purchasing program that promotes the adoption of solar energy through volunteer-driven outreach and group pricing. Traditional marketing and advertising costs are virtually eliminated by the networking and education efforts of volunteers. Costs are further reduced by installing multiple solar energy systems in the same geographic area through a pre-selected vendor.

Since last spring, the program has installed dozens of solar electric systems in the two towns, saving home and business owners thousands of dollars each. Chosen local solar installer, Aegis Solar Energy, has hosted 4 workshops and 3 Solar Open Houses in Guilford and Branford in effort to educate the public on the benefits of going solar.
Chris Lenda of President and CEO Aegis said, " Solar panel prices are at a record low. Participants receive a performance based incentive from the State of Connecticut and a 30% Federal tax credit. Solar systems are also sales tax and property tax exempt, but the window of opportunity is closing."
