Holiday Tree Lighting And Parade: What To Know Before You Go

What you need to know about parking and road closures ahead of Saturday's holiday parade and tree lighting.

BRANFORD, CT — Police are letting folks know how to enjoy the Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting and avoid tickets and traffic hassles.

The parade will start at 6 beginning at Branford High School and travel west on Main Street to the Town Green. Police are asking motorists to "please be patient" with road closures.

Branford Police say similar to past holiday parades, the following roads will be closed beginning

around 5:45 p.m.:

  • East Main Street (near Shell and Branford High School) westbound to the Center
  • Main Street (Town Center Area)
  • Montowese Street (traffic will be diverted to South Main Street coming from Montowese Street and the shore area) during the tree lighting and parade.

Police also say motorists should pay attention to the 'no parking' signs in the area of Main Street, from Ivy Street to Harrison Avenue prohibited on both sides, Montowese Street, from Main Street to Bradley Street prohibited on both sides, Blackstone Avenue/Town Hall Drive/Taintor Drives, prohibited on both sides of those streets as well.

"If you are parked in a NO PARKING area, be advised your vehicle may be subject to tow at the owner’s expense," police say.
