Hope's Recovery Hits the 5-Week Mark

Shelter staff say Hope still needs to gain 10-15 more pounds.

(Editor's Note: For those of you who haven't been following the story of Hope, you've missed a lot. Five weeks ago someone driving by saw a dog struggling to walk in Branford. She took the dog to the Dan Csogrove Animal Shelter and staff called it "one of the worst cases of animal cruelty" they had ever seen. Staff said the dog was starved and was a day or two away from death. Over the past five weeks, shelter staff and local vets have cared for the dog around the clock and named it 'Hope.' A reward of $5,000 has been issued by PETA for information on who did this to 'Hope.' The shelter has been providing updates concerning Hope's recovery.)

The vets are thinking she needs to put on about 10-15 more pounds , so she will continue to be on a specialized diet with smaller meals given throughout the day.

We are of course just thrilled with her recovery and once again we are so grateful to all of you for all of your support and to the vets for dedicating so much time and energy to heal Hope!

We will update again next Monday!
