'I Am So Broken': Branford Mother Speaks Out After Son's Murder

BRANFORD, CT — The mother of a 12-year-old Branford boy killed by his father last year is speaking publicly about her grief and how she's honoring her son's memory following the father's recent sentencing.

Anthony Andrew Esposito Jr. was sentenced last month to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his son, Anthony P. Esposito, with a baseball bat and attempting to murder his teenage daughter by pushing her down a flight of stairs during the May 2025 attack.

In an interview with WTNH, Anthony's mother, who asked not to be identified publicly, described the past year as devastating.

"I am so broken," she said. "It's disgusting. Like on the inside, I'm broke."

She described Anthony as a kind, caring boy who always wanted to help people and said she talks about him every day, sharing stories and photos to keep his memory alive.

The Branford mother told WTNH she's found strength through family, friends and the local community, which has supported her and her daughter throughout the past year.

She has also begun giving back in Anthony's honor, organizing a holiday toy drive that provided nearly 200 toys for children and donating birthday cake kits to local families.

Anthony's legacy has also been honored through community efforts, including the Community Dining Room's "Kindness Campaign in Memory of Anthony," a month-long fundraiser inspired by his generosity and volunteer work with the organization's Summer Meal Program.
