Man Arrested In Connection To Incident At Elementary School: Branford Police
Police shared new details concerning the arrest.
BRANFORD, CT — The Branford Police Department said it has arrested 24-year-old Jack N. Gill pursuant to a criminal arrest warrant following an investigation into an incident that occurred on January 20, 2026, at Mary T. Murphy Elementary School.
The incident is alleged to have occurred while Gill was employed as an outsourced substitute teacher, police said. During the investigation, detectives learned that Gill had also been accused of engaging in similar conduct in Hamden, police added.
As part of a separate investigation, the Hamden Police Department arrested Gill on March 27, police said.

On the authority of the Branford arrest warrant issued on April 2, Gill was taken into custody and charged with risk of injury to a minor and fourth-degree sexual assault. He posted a $75,000 bond.
"This arrest follows a thorough, months-long investigation conducted by the Branford Police Department in coordination with the New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office," Branford police said in a statement. "The Branford Police Department recognizes that incidents of this nature generate significant concern within the community. We appreciate the patience of those affected and the overall Branford Community, while investigators conducted the necessary investigative steps and coordinated with the State’s Attorney’s Office to ensure the matter was handled appropriately and thoroughly.
