Man Dies After Forklift Accident In Branford: UPDATE
The accident occurred at an auto repair shop.

BRANFORD, CT — A 58-year-old New Haven resident was killed Monday after a forklift fell on top of him at a business on North Main St. in Branford, according to police. Branford Police say the man was transporting the machine on a flatbed truck at Whip-It Tire & Auto Repair. He stopped to put air in the truck's tire and had to adjust the position of forklift on the truck when it fell off the truck and landed on top of him, according to police.
Branford Officers are investigating. Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials have been notified and are on scene. The victim's name is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
A worker at Whip It Tire & Service tells me the Injured person was not an employee. It was a person who had come to the tire company looking for air for one of his tires. The forklift was on a flatbed he was driving.
