Branford Scouting has been building citizenship, leadership skills, and a spirit of adventure in youth for over 10 years, serving ages 5–20 through four dynamic programs. Through experiential learning, Branford scouts experience adventures from ice climbing to sailing in the Florida Keys, with campouts all year round for our older scouts. Our commitment to country is reflected in where we meet—serving our veterans at Branford’s VFW Post 12106—and through meaningful experiences like our recent trip to Washington, D.C., where scouts participated in the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery and presented a wreath in honor of our fallen heroes. Our younger Cub Scouts also demonstrate patriotism by marching in parades and placing flags at cemeteries, just like their older peers. They enjoy fun and discovery at weekly meetings and through memorable outings, such as an overnight at the Norwalk Maritime Center, sleeping aboard the World War II battleship USS Massachusetts, and exploring the EcoTarium museum. MILFORD, CT — A New Haven man is being held in lieu of a $155,000 bond for five counts of failing to appear in court, Milford Police said. On Feb. 16, police took custody of Michael Parise, 55, of Lexington Avenue in New Haven in regard to five arrest warrants, police said. He is accused of failing to appear in court on November 2, 3 and 15 for arrests in Branford and East Haven, police said. Some of Parise's charges include interfering with arrest, breach of peace, harassment, violation of a protective order, and disorderly conduct. He is charged two two counts of first-degree failure to appear and three counts of second-degree failure to appear.
