Thank you, thank you, thank you, Town of Branford, for supporting the benefit for us on February 1. It was an overwhelming show of support as we traverse this up and down journey through cancer.
A huge thank you to Lenny’s Indian Head, Chris and Lloyd Conlin, Jeff Horton, and the entire staff for hosting. A big thanks to Shaun Heffernan and Diane Heffernan-Queen for organizing the event and overseeing so many details.

The food, entertainment Wayne and Chris, and raffles were amazing. Also, I’d like to give a shout out to Rob Reed of ADG for their support, and the Branford Fire Department who are always there when we need them.
A big thank you to all of those who donated to the Silent Auction and Raffle - there were some amazing offerings!
We enjoyed seeing friends that we have not seen in years, and friends we see all the time. Barbara’s Premier Subaru family was out in force. It was hard to get to talk with everyone and we feel badly that we didn’t get to acknowledge everyone’s attendance.
This overwhelming support is something we have never experienced and never expected. Lenny’s that night was “like St. Patrick’s Day without all the green.”
To anyone who helped organize and spearhead the event who we didn’t name, please accept our sincere apologies and heartfelt thank you.
Thanks to all,
Barbara and Michael Mullen
Background:
The Mullen family has always given to the Branford firefighting community and now that one of them is in need firefighters are giving back.
Barbara Mullen is battling cancer. She recently underwent surgery and while she’s been recuperating, she will soon face another surgery, according Branford Fire Department Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal Shaun Heffernan.
Heffernan said while Barbara has been fighting cancer she has been unable to work at her full-time job at Premiere Subaru in Branford. Her husband, Mike, has been a volunteer firefighter in Branford for more than four decades.
“So, we want to help her and her family with her medical expenses,” explained Heffernan.
The Mullens are members of Branford's multi-generation firefighting family, which also included Mike's late father, former Branford Fire Chief Peter Mullen, and late brother, former Branford Fire Deputy Chief Ron Mullen.
If you're still interested in making a donation email Shaun Heffernan at heff@branfordfire.com.
