Mike Olt Hits 1st Home Run as Red Sox Minor Leaguer

The Branford native is trying to work his way back to the big league roster.

PORTLAND, MAINE – Branford’s Mike Olt hit his first home run as a member of the Boston Red Sox organization on Tuesday.

Olt’s home run helped the red hot Portland Sea Dogs, the Sox AA affiliate, win its fifth straight game of the year – against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

The Sea Dogs won 3-2.

The Sea Dogs are now 5-0.

Olt has batted fourth in all five games for Portland – playing some games at first base, some at third base, and some as a designated hitter.

Olt, a former first round draft choice out of the University of Connecticut, was signed by the Red Sox in March.
